CONGRATULATIONS
1962/63
SINCE
THE CHRISTMAS ISSUE of this magazine further messages of goodwill
have come our way, notably from:
Hamish
Hamilton who write that they are delighted with the appearance
of Ruins in the Jungle.
Methuen
tell us that Mr Herrmann has asked them to write and say that
he considers . . . machining and binding of Paperback [Twentieth
Century Literature] very good indeed.
The
Egg Marketing Board reported that The Egg Pirates
have arrived on time and think that this is a very remarkable feat.
They are delighted with the book and very grateful for the
efforts made to produce it so excellently and in such a short space
of time.
And
now a foretaste of 1963:
Griffin
and George thank us for the efforts made in providing
. . . the copies of the Griffin Supplement required for the
SMA Exhibition and [they] think this is a very nice publication
and are sure our customers will agree.
Margate
Publishing Department say they would like to thank us
and all those connected with the production of the Margate Guide,
and particularly Mr Cook for his help, guidance and interpretation
of their instructions in the most attractive and colourful editorial
sections.

| MR
JOHN JARROLD (RIGHT) RECEIVING THE AWARD |
|
For
the second year running Jarrolds have won the Photo Litho and
Offset Award in a competition organized by The Litho Printer
magazine.
The
photograph shows Mr John receiving the plaque, which symbolizes
the award, from Mr F E Newman of W S Crawford Ltd, who was
one of the judges.
The
winning entry consisted of the colour plates in the National
Rose Societys Rose Annual for 1962. These plates,
which were said to mirror the bright colours of the flowers being
illustrated, were processed from Ektachromes and printed in four
colours on Quad Demy 2-colour Rolands using Wiggins Teape Proven
Litho Art paper, size 331/2 x 441/2,
125 lb. The run was 86,000.
This
extract, from the Jarrold Magazine, Volume XVI, Number 1,
1963, shows the excellent quality of work produced by Jarrold Printing
of Norwich in its heyday.
