OVERSEAS STUDENTS VISIT JARROLDS, 1963

WE ARE OFTEN visited by printers or students of printing from Commonwealth countries and elsewhere overseas either for training courses or on visits sponsored by technical and Government organizations.

On Tuesday, 5 February, we entertained a party of eight Asian and African students from the London College of Printing accompanied by their instructor Mr Carey; Mr John Exley and Mr John Hopper of Hoe & Crabtree and a film unit from the Central Office of Information under the direction of Mr P Meadows were also there.

The party was welcomed on arrival by Mr Peter Jarrold and the students, assisted by Mr W Kent, were filmed viewing the ’Ambassador’ perfector for a newsreel which it is intended to distribute widely overseas.

At lunch in the canteen, delightfully prepared by Mrs Symonds, the party was given the opportunity of putting questions to Mr John Jarrold whose forward-looking views on many aspects of the industry’s future development were of great interest to his enthusiastic audience.

During the afternoon the party was conducted round the works by Mr Desmond Field. Everyone was impressed by the size of our printing and binding plant, the high quality of our work, the enthusiasm of all with whom they talked, and the confidence we have in British printing.

At the end of the tour Mr Exley thanked Mr Peter on behalf of the party for an interesting and instructive visit and for the kindness and courtesy shown by all concerned.
