WE
REGRET to record the death of Mr Ivan Roy on Monday, 6 August, 1962.
Ivan
joined Jarrolds in 1956 and after a short period in the Composing
area moved to the Design department.
His
ability was shown by his achievements in the Design for Printing
Competition, in which he received a Highly Commended with Special
Distinction and a Consolation Prize of Five Guineas.
In
1960, Ivan was one of the four runners-up for the Gold Medal itself,
in the Gold Medal Layout Competition of the British Federation of
Master Printers, with his name often appearing in the list of prizewinners.
He
also did well in the City and Guilds final examination for Typographical
Design.
His
death, at the early age of 29, is a great loss to his many friends
and colleagues at Jarrolds.
Taken
from the October 1962 issue of The Jarrold Magazine.
